Like many people fortunate enough to grow up here in Boulder, I was exposed to the amazing energy and environment that this town has always offered. 1975 was a very good year in Boulder. That year, I was lucky enough to be witness to the very birth of road cycling in the USA at North Boulder Park watching the final stage of the first Red Zinger Bicycle Classic. 1975 was also the year I began skateboarding. I was lucky enough to be along for the ride for the skating's "second wave" and I was a competitive slalom, vert, and freestyle skater here in Boulder throughout the late 70's and early 80's. By 1982, I had decided that cycling was the sport for me. In 1983 and 1984, I worked as a team driver for the Coors Classic and was exposed for the first time to big time European style racing from the inside. By 1989 I was a Category 1 racer and Collegiate National Champion riding for the University of Colorado Cycling Team at the Nationals in Colorado Springs. During that time and in the years after I had seen Boulder's local sports related companies make their mark. Cool Gear, Hanson Boots, Lange, Spyder, Volant Skis, Boulder Boards, Kryptonics, Aggression Snowboards, Rock Shox, and others added local flavor to our community while pushing forward the boundaries of product development and design. I always wanted to create a place for myself among Boulder's true hardcore sports companies with real soul. In 1991 I founded Curve Cycling Components. with my Father. Our first products were anodized brake stiffeners, cantilever brakes, titanium quick release skewers, and the very first full Aermet 100 road and mountain frames. We experienced the craziness of Mountain Biking's first big boom in the early 1990's, and watched as our friends and sponsored racers won World Championships, Tour de France stages, and numerous other competitions using our products. During the lean times in the cycling industry in the late 1990's I worked for Volant Skis in the R&D department as a design engineer, and when Yeti Cycles of Durango was acquired by Volant's parent company and moved to Golden, I was fortunate enough to be there unpacking the semi trucks of inventory, frames, and equipment that rolled down from Durango. When it was time to move on, I relocated to Budapest, Hungary with the intent of finding capable and unique manufacturers in Eastern Europe. My involvement in K Speed Motorsports afforded me the opportunity to be involved with several successful campaigns at the World Rally Championships on the management level. Those experiences have led directly to the evolution of Curve Inc. as it exists now. We choose to work with European suppliers, and we produce and design private label products for many of the largest companies in the cycling, motocross, and outdoor industries. We still maintain an office and residence in Budapest, and that is the launching point for our Eastern European operations. Curve's true focus, however, is our own product line. To this day (and in the future), we extensively test every product that we offer. I personally put in countless hours on the bike, in the water, on the board, and with the suppliers before anything with our logo is offered to the market. Curve remains a small and innovative company. I am the owner and founder, and we own this operation lock stock and barrel. There are no committees, investors, or boards of directors telling us what we can or should make. We are a family owned and operated business, and we choose what we make, who we work with, and who we sell to. My Father and my Wife are involved in the day to day management of our company, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We're all about positive vibes and a progressive, evolved energetic. This energy is imbued in everything we make and the relationships that we try to build with our customers and our suppliers. Yes, we make a profit, but our main intent is to offer the most innovative products that we can and to live life to its fullest. Money is only a byproduct of doing everything with integrity and focus. All the time. I only care about one thing: Making the best shit possible. Life's too short to look at it any other way...
